What will treatment involve?
After gathering information on how these concerns present and impact your life, we will discuss what evidence-based approach is most fitting. We will work to establish healthier eating habits, build areas of your life that are unrelated to eating, and work on the psychological contributors that continue the cycle
It will be important to have your health monitored, as well as obtain guidance from a registered dietician. I try to take a team approach when possible to ensure you are safe and your medical needs are addressed. If you do not already have a medical team, we will discuss referrals
Disordered eating
As someone living with disordered eating, you might find yourself thinking about food or your body far more than you want. It is common to get stuck in cycles of control, guilt, or shame, and then eating itself starts to feel unsafe. Together we will work to understand underlying drivers for your disordered eating. We will address not only behaviors around food and eating, but also the emotional and psychological factors involved.
Therapy can help build trust in yourself, reduce the time spent obsessing, and work on feeling more comfortable around food and others.
