more about me

trauma & PTSD

With a trauma-informed approach, my first and foremost mission is creating a safe place to unpack the layers that follows a trauma. Many people describe trauma symptoms as an endless loop of getting pulled into your past. Anger and sadness may keep you frozen or acting of out character. Many will experience widespread fears and feelings of detachment from yourself and others. My role is help you gain skills to work through the pain, create a steady path, and build confidence to re-engage with life. Common traumas I treat include complex childhood trauma, sexual traumas, relational traumas, racial trauma, and combat/military related.

Anxiety Disorders

Living with anxiety often includes a constant sense of dread and uneasiness. Impact can range from quiet worry to obsessions, making even everyday activities overwhelming and unbearable. Sometimes it seems you can’t relax or concentrate, and worry takes up your headspace. Focused therapy can help be more present and expand activities that previously felt unachievable. Common anxiety disorders I treat include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and agoraphobia

Eating disorders

Eating disorders may include binge eating, purging, restriction, and excessive exercise as ways to gain a sense of control, attempt to quell overwhelming feelings, or change something about themselves. While therapy for disordered eating includes changing food and eating behaviors, it is so much more. Emotional pain and dysregulation are often at the heart of eating disorders, and many will have deep critical views of self, their weight, or their appearance. Specialized psychotherapy for these concerns helps gain an understanding of the underlying triggers, decrease emotional suppression, and develop coping strategies so food and weight are not the enemies.

Additional therapy concerns

While I provide therapies for the specialty areas above, I also have extensive experience working with depression, loss and grief, and adjusting to life changes including retirement, health and relationship changes.
